Am 04.10.2013 erscheint mit “Blood Donation” das Debütalbum von Mariam The Believer über Moshi Moshi / [PIAS] Cooperative.

Mariam Wallentin ist besser bekannt als Teil des schwedischen Duos Wildbirds and Peacedrums, doch ab sofort schreitet die extravagante Sängerin auf musikalischen Solowegen durchs Leben. Mariam The Believer ist eine sehr introspektive und melancholische Kreation kraftvollen Pops, die Mariams Vision von Hoffnung und Licht am Ende des Tunnels charakterisiert.

“To be in the dark, wanting the light. To learn how to give without demanding anything in return. Wanting to challenge the world, and yourself.  But really, I probably just want the record to feel like something you’ve dug up from the dark ground.”

“Invisible Giving” ist ein epischer siebenminütiger Song, der einen ersten Eindruck auf das kommende Debüt “Blood Donation” geben soll. Gleichzeitig war es auch das erste Stück, das Mariam für das Album geschrieben hat.

“I tried to make several songs out of it but it wasn’t how it wanted to be played, the different parts in the song structure needed each other to make sense of it somehow. The song is also a bit about that, how small parts in life are linked and together make a way leading to something – that we should not neglect the tiny things in life that may not seem important at first.”

Live wird sie mit einem Quartett auftreten.
