Once a year, we take the time to turn the village upside down, open doors and windows, hoping for something different, something unknown. It leads us from the partial to the whole. Even atheists find themselves gazing at the church tower, because it has remained – even for those who have left, only to return.
The anticipation begins as soon as we start packing. Every millimetre between the here and now and that festive destination is filled with excitement and longing. In this day and age, moving towards something can also mean moving forward, setting off – not a ‘Spitz pass auf’ (a German children's game), but a ‘finding in order to seek’.
We have established a ritual, a recurring event in our village; we banish our fears, each in our own way, set a shared goal on the horizon, and eagerly look forward to this weekend.
To stay agile – both in a tangible way and for good reason – we’re delighted about our new sponsorship partnership with Wildling Shoes. Wildling deliberately diverts part of its performance marketing budget away from Meta and Google to support art and culture instead.
Cycling through the sun-baked countryside at a time when few others are doing so is quite an experience. There are many scenes here in the area that look like paintings, if you take a moment to appreciate them. Grain fields ready for harvest, yellow-green meadows, parched cornfields, framed by hedges, willows, oaks and lime trees casting their shadows. Above it all towers a brilliant blue sky – a summer like a white Christmas.
It all looks picturesque and weary, matching the mood in the village: holidays at last. The anticipation carried us past the last of the benches, chairs and bus stops, and the final metres of alarm clocks and homework. When I sit here in the bar, I see lots of people heading to the lakes in their swimwear; today, the bath towels are tucked away in bags, whereas in our day they were rolled up and wedged onto the luggage racks. Hidden within these images are lovely memories – a taste of the good life in the countryside, of leisure time. In 2001, we made a short film about this atmosphere, featuring hay carts laden with gear and little rascals splashing about by the lake, accompanied by ‘The Perfect Lovesong’ by The Divine Comedy; those children are now judges and teachers, but the longing remains in the fields.
We’re looking forward to seeing you all; everyone has their own reason, many of them heart-wrenching secrets. Anxiety gives way to hope; the imagination conjures up so many deeply moving moments – and that’s what keeps us going. Now we’re pulling ourselves together once more, turning the complicated into the achievable, signing contracts, telling the hesitant ones just how good it’s going to be, and lighting a candle. We’re not at the forefront; what drives us are people, friendships and a deep trust that life will go on – with our children, the weather and, soon, common sense too. A bright, deep light; no possessions, just trust – may I love, may I be. It’s going to be our wonderful summer.

Due to the current weather conditions, the dry meadows and woods, and the risk of fires, we would like to take this opportunity to ask you to take extra care of yourselves and your surroundings. Campfires and open fires are strictly prohibited on the campsite. If you are barbecuing, please use gas only, on a solid surface, and always keep an eye on it; ensure you have water or fire-extinguishing equipment to hand in case of fire. IMPORTANT: Otherwise, barbecuing with charcoal on the campsite is ONLY permitted in the 3 areas designated by us as BBQ areas.
Please ensure that you dispose of your barbecue charcoal ONLY in the ash bins provided. You will find these in the BBQ areas. Please NEVER throw your ash into the rubbish bins. This also applies, of course, to cigarette ends and any other highly flammable items.
There will be free water points on the festival site and at the shower camp.

In case of approaching storms we will inform you via public address call on the festival grounds and announcements via social media. We will instruct you to go back to your cars and seek shelter until the weather conditions clear up. Please stay calm and follow the instructions of our security guards. If you have space left in your car, please turn on your emergency blinkers to give a signal others who are still seeking protection, also a great chance to make new friends! Not under any circumstances move your vehicles. For those of you who have no vehicle, we provide two hangars right next to the festival ground. Please proceed to the campsite exit on Lohstraße. There, emergency vehicles will direct you to the appropriate halls.
Prohibited items
Prohibited items, bottles, containers, etc.
For reasons of safety and order, as well as to prevent littering, security checks will be carried out by security staff upon entry. It is prohibited to bring glass bottles, PET bottles, glass containers, bottles, cans, plastic canisters and containers, hard packaging or other heavy containers, as well as torches, pyrotechnic items, weapons of any kind or other dangerous items onto the event grounds/to the event venues. In such cases, the organiser is entitled to refuse admission to the event if the visitor is not prepared to hand over the aforementioned items at the entrance check.
Professional camera equipment
Professional camera equipment (which essentially means almost everything apart from mobile phones) is reserved for photographers and film crews accredited for the festival and may not be brought onto the festival grounds by guests.

Please be aware that also this year NO backpacks, bags, sachets or the like are allowed in the beer garden and in the mainstage area. Small neck pouches or belt bags up to a size of 21 x 30 cm are permitted. Due to security check at the entrance, please expect a few minutes more and follow the instructions of our security guards.

Accessibility / People with disabilities
In Haldern, we have always strived to create a considerate and family-friendly festival. To ensure that all visitors can enjoy a relaxed and hassle-free time with us, we aim to make the festival as accessible as possible. However, as Haldern Pop takes place in the countryside, on a meadow and a riding arena, it is difficult to make the entire site wheelchair-accessible. Nevertheless, we’re doing our very best to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
We have already been able to provide the following:
• Free admission for one accompanying person upon presentation of a severe disability card marked with category B.
• Accessible toilet and shower in the shower camp on the festival site
• A raised platform in front of the main stage, suitable for wheelchair users.
• Floor tiles in the entrance area to the festival site
• All festival venues are accessible at ground level, with the exception of the youth centre (Jugendheim).
We are constantly striving to expand our measures to ensure a fully accessible festival. We therefore always welcome your suggestions for improvement, tips and requests at info@haldern-pop.de with the subject line ‘Accessibility’.

- Do I have to bring a printed copy of the ticket to the festival?
In short: Must: NO Can: YES
The important thing about the ticket is the QR code. – Experience has shown that, due to the screen lighting, this is much easier for a ticket scanner to read from a mobile phone. The email containing the ticket, the ticket PDF or even a screenshot of the code will all work.
Of course, printed tickets or codes can also be scanned, but these are more prone to errors, e.g. if they’re creased, wet or poorly printed.
So both options work, but our recommendation is to use your mobile phone.

Permission to participate for young people under the age of 18
Young people’s participation in the festival is determined by their parents on the basis of parental responsibility. According to the German Civil Code (BGB), parents have both the duty and the right to care for their minor children (under the age of 18). The law does not set out detailed guidelines. Ultimately, it is the parents who decide on travel to the festival, participation and the duration of their stay there.
Furthermore, restrictions apply to the sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks, as well as to the sale of tobacco products and smoking. During age checks, children and young people found to be under the influence of alcohol or smoking may be sent home. We recommend that minors have their permission to attend confirmed – attendance at the festival is not permitted without permission and an accompanying adult!

Luggage shuttle (between the train station and the campsite)
Engineers Without Borders (Ingenieure ohne Grenzen) are running a luggage shuttle service this year between Haldern train station (Rheinland) and the campsite (festival grounds).
The shuttle service days and times are:

Rental lockers
We’re providing guarded lockers for you again this year.
You can ONLY book the lockers online!
You’ll then receive a QR code, which is scanned in the same way as the tickets; you can use this to collect the key for your locker at the ticket desk in the entrance area.
Please note: The lockers do not have power sockets. You’ll find mobile phone charging stations in the merch area and at other booths.

Festivalwährung POPTALER (Token)
Many of you are already familiar with them, and they’ll be back again this year: our tokens, the POPTALER, which can be used to pay for all food and drink. POPTALER can be purchased in cash or via cashless payment at the exchange counters (value: EUR 1.90), although we’d like to ask you to pay for them cashlessly wherever possible, to keep our cash handling to a minimum.

Please be considerate of your fellow campers, especially when it comes to the amount of space your camp occupies.
Can I camp next to my car, or are camping and parking separate?
You can camp right next to your car. Separate parking areas are also available.
Are caravans and motorhomes allowed?
Yes. Please note that there are no electricity or water hookups on the campsite.
Camping opening hours
The campsite opens on Wednesday at 3:00 pm and closes on Sunday at 12:00 noon.
Can I stay at the campsite without a festival ticket?
No. The campsite is reserved exclusively for 4-day festival ticket holders. Our camping crew will only grant access to guests with a valid 4-day festival ticket.
Are pets allowed?
No. Out of consideration for the welfare of the animals and for other festival-goers, pets and other animals are not permitted on the festival site, which includes the camping areas.
Haldern Pop Shop opening times
At the Haldern Pop Shop in the village (right next to the Haldern Pop Bar), alongside our usual selection of records, you’ll find a wide range of releases by this year’s festival artists. There’s also, of course, festival merchandise such as T-shirts, bags and posters, as well as plenty of bargains.

Our partner Domo Camp offers fully equipped comfort tents in a range of sizes and configurations.

Getting to Haldern
Getting here by car
From southern Germany:
Take the A3 motorway towards Oberhausen.
Exit at 4 – Rees and follow the signs towards Rees/Hamminkeln.
From there, simply follow the signs to Haldern.
From the Ruhr area:
Take the A3 motorway towards Arnhem/Emmerich.
Leave the motorway at Exit 4 – Rees and follow the signs to Haldern.
From the Netherlands:
Take the A12 towards Germany. After crossing the border, the A12 becomes the A3.
Take Exit 4 – Rees and follow the signs to Haldern.
Getting here by public transport
Haldern is served by the RE19 regional train, which runs between Düsseldorf Central Station (Hbf) and Arnhem Centraal.
From southern Germany or the Ruhr area:
Travel to Düsseldorf Hbf or Duisburg Hbf, then change to the RE19 towards Arnhem Centraal.
Important: On some services, the RE19 is split in Wesel. Make sure you board the section of the train continuing to Arnhem Centraal.
From the Netherlands:
Travel to Arnhem Centraal and take the RE19 towards Düsseldorf Hbf.
Get off at Haldern (Rheinl.) station.
The festival venues in the village are about 5 minutes on foot from the station.
The main festival site is approximately a 20-minute walk away.
