Liedgut

Heute lief unsere erste Radiosendung „Liedgut“, vor lauter Aufregung haben wir die gespielten Stücke nicht angekündigt. Habe auch keine Erklärung dazu abgegeben, das hole ich hiermit nach. Der Einstieg sollte eigentlich ein Bernd Begemann Zitat zum Haldern Pop sein, was aber in der Nacht von Stephan Hanf, unserem Audio Cutter und Redakteur kurzfristig in das altbekannte „Du die Schwalbe, wir der Sommer“ Intro geändert wurde.

Die Musik hierzu ist ein Auszug aus “Meditationen“ von Lubomyr Melnyk aus dem Jahr 2013 live aus der Kirche in Haldern.

Das sakrale Stück von Nils Frahm, „The Whole Universe Wants to be Touched“, führt uns aus der Kirche an die frische Luft. Dan Deacons „Become a Mountain“ ist ein Ritt durch meine Kindheit, mit der Fiets ohne Schutzblech durch den Wald, geflickte Hosen und laufende Nasen, Stofftaschentücher und unglaublich viel zu tun. Das war eine Zeit der Buden und Bolzplätze, Fanta hieß noch Limonade und die Farben entsprachen dem Kodak Material der 70er. Eine wunderbare Zeit, und das passende, sprudelnde Lied.

Auch ein spannender Teil meiner Kindheit, die Beatles „Help“ war mein Türöffner.

Im Jahr 1984, als wir unser erstes Festival organisierten, war „East at Easter“ von den Simple Minds ein Ohrwurm – und das Lied kann es noch heute.

„Mistaken for Strangers“ (Live in Brussels) hat diese Wucht und Kraft, die innerhalb des Stückes nochmal nach vorne springt. The National 2008 war, zweifellos, einer der großen Momente in Haldern.

Sophie Hunger‘s Auftritt im vergangen Jahr zur Primetime auf der Hauptbühne glich einer künstlerischen Offenbarung, einem Musik gewordenen Rausch. Julian Sartorius erzählte mir letztes Jahr in Kaltern, dass er mit ihr gerade neue Sachen im Abbey Road Studio aufgenommen hat und vor einigen Wochen habe ich dann dieses erste Stück, „Security Check“ gehört. Dieses Lied ist mir das Liebste im Moment. Mein erstes Bild war, wie Julian mit einem handgeschliffenen Sherry Glas um Frau Hunger läuft und mit seinem hochkantigen Trommelspiel das Lied rahmt. Eine spritzige und elektrisierende Panade von einem der experimentierfreudigsten Trommler Europas.

Blumfeld’s “L’Etat et Moi” ist für mich eines der besten deutschsprachigen Alben überhaupt. Das Stück „Verstärker“ kocht über, die Produktion, die Bassläufe, dieser fließende Ungehorsam bis ins Hypnotische, sind mir so selten wieder begegnet.

Briston Maroney ist noch am Anfang, „Under my Skin“ fasziniert mich seit dem Frühjahr 2019, vielleicht gehört ihm die Zukunft, wir wünschen uns das.

Aufmerksame Tagebuch Leser werden dieses Lied von Patrick Watson, „Here comes the River“ kennen. Leider kappt die Pünktlichkeit die Größe des Schlusses. Auch hier sei das ganze Album empfohlen, eines der Besten des Jahrgangs 2019.

Liedgut

Today our first radio show “Liedgut” was aired, because of all the excitement we did not announce the song we played. I haven’t made any statement either. I’ll make it up to you. The introduction was supposed to be a Bernd Begemann quote from Haldern Pop, but Stephan Hanf, our audio cutter and editor, changed it to the well-known “Du die Schwalbe, wir der Sommer” intro.

The music is an excerpt from “Meditations” by Lubomyr Melnyk from 2013, live from the church in Haldern.

The sacral piece by Nils Frahm, “The Whole Universe Wants to be Touched”, takes us out of the church into the fresh air. Dan Deacon’s “Become a Mountain” is a ride through my childhood, with the bike without fenders through the forest, patched pants and running noses, cloth handkerchiefs and an incredible amount of things to do. That was a time of shacks and football fields, Fanta was still called lemonade and the colours were the same as the Kodak material of the 70s. A wonderful time, and the fitting, bubbly song.

In 1984, when we organized our first festival, “East at Easter” by the Simple Minds was a catchy tune – and the song still delivers today.

“Mistaken for Strangers” (Live in Brussels) has this force and power, which jump forward again further within the song. The National 2008 was, without doubt, one of the great moments in Haldern.

Sophie Hunger’s performance last year at prime time on the main stage resembled an artistic revelation, a musical intoxication. Julian Sartorius told me last year in Kaltern that he was recording new stuff with her at Abbey Road Studio and a few weeks ago I heard this first piece, “Security Check”. This song is my favourite one right now. My first picture that came to mind, was Julian walking around Miss Hunger with a hand-cut sherry glass, framing the song with his upright drumming. A sparkling and electrifying coating by one of the most experimental drummers in Europe.

For me, Blumfeld’s “L’Etat et Moi” is one of the best German language albums ever. The piece „Verstärker” is boiling over, the production, the bass runs, this flowing disobedience into the hypnotic, I have rarely met again.

Briston Maroney is still at the beginning, “Under my Skin” fascinates me since spring 2019, maybe the future belongs to him, we wish for that.

Attentive diary readers will know this song by Patrick Watson, “Here comes the River”. Unfortunately the punctuality cuts the size of the ending. Again, the whole album is recommended, one of the best of 2019
